  • If it wasnt filmed it didnt happen
    • Videos are a huge part of skate culture. They show what's possible and how skating can be used to accent a city's architecture. A video from one city could be drastically different from another, because every city has its own architectural style. Philly has plazas and therefore most of the videos that come out of Philly include the Municipal Building Courtyard, the Free Library Plaza and, before it was torn down, every Philly skate video included Love Park. A place like San Francisco has steep hills so videos often include a classic hill bomb, going straight down a hill at dangerious speeds.

  • Photography
    • Photography is one of the most artistic mediums that is used to depict skateboarding. It brings art and skating closer together, where they belong. Art in skating is an important point of expression, and an often overlooked aspect of the activity.
  • Sound?
    • The sound in skateboarding often goes unappreciated. As an exercise, here are some sounds of skating free of any visuals. All of these snippets are recorded on a VX1000 camera, which has a distinctive crispy sound quality. This camera has been a staple in Philly’s skate culture for over 20 years.
